Design a Bookmark for our Library
The Irving Shapiro Library is pleased to announce our inaugural Library Student Art Contest!
The purpose of the Library Student Art Contest is to provide a professional outlet for the talents of our students while simultaneously promoting the Library and its resources. This year, students are encouraged to submit designs for a full-color library bookmark, to be distributed throughout the school and in promotional materials used by the admissions and recruiting staff. Participation is open to all current AAA students in all departments. A panel of faculty and staff judges will determine the top three winners. Prizes are listed below:
- 1st place: Design is published in bookmark form; winner receives a $100 (U.S. Dollars) Visa gift card.
- Two runners-up: One-year membership to a museum of your choice (selected from a list)
Entry Rules
The winning design will be printed in full color on both sides of the bookmark. All entries must conform to the templates supplied (InDesign, Illustrator, or PDF) and must include the required copy and the Academy logo on the back of the bookmark. We will also list artist credits on the back.
Bookmark designs should:
- Be related to our Library in some way
- Promote library resources
- Promote library use in general
- Be original works, not previously used professionally or for class assignments. A student may submit more than one design, but only one may be selected as a winning entry.
- Comply with U.S. Copyright Law (see below)
- Be press-ready:
- Submit all entries as TIF or PDF
- May be either portrait or landscape orientation
- 300 ppi, 2” x 7” size
- CMYK color
- 1/8” bleed edge
- Be submitted by Monday, July 4 at 11:59 PM:
- Download and complete entry form
- Email entry form and design(s) to: librarian@aaart.edu
- OR burn entry form and design(s) to a CD or DVD and submit it to Lindsay in the library. Please print your full name and email on the CD/DVD!
Copyright Notice
Entries are required to comply with U.S. Copyright Law. Students should remember that privileges that may apply to materials created for class do not apply to the Irving Shapiro Library Student Art Contest, as the winning designs will be visible to those outside of the Academy community and therefore, outside of a classroom setting.
Use of Winning Designs
The Libraries reserve the right to re-print the bookmark as needed. Use of the winning designs is in accordance with the current Course Catalog’s “Reproduction Rights” policy. By submitting your design, you acknowledge and accept these terms.
